DISCOVERING THE BEACHES OF TANTRAMAR

Swimming, Sunbathing & Exploring

Beaches in the Tantramar Region include fresh-water lakes, rivers and the warmest salt water north of the Carolinas.

Swimming Beaches

Lillas Fawcett Park

Five minutes from downtown Sackville, Lillas Fawcett Park is a great place for family outings. The Park is located on Silver Lake and is ideal for swimming, canoeing, wind-surfing and water-skiing. Picnic tables, a playground and a newly-constructed boat launch are all open to the public, free of charge.

Murray Beach Provincial Park

Located on the Northumberland Strait, Murray Beach features the warmest salt water north of the Carolinas. Facilities include a change house, parking, washrooms, showers, picnic areas, washrooms and a campground. The Cape Jourimain National Wildlife Area and the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island lie just a few kilometers away.

Discovery Beaches

Slack's Cove

A short drive from Sackville towards Rockport, Slack's Cove features a sheltered pebble beach and rocky shoreline, ideal for rockhounding and fossil-hunting. A walking path skirts the cape, winding through woodlands and meadows, offering a spectacular view of the Bay of Fundy.

Dorchester Cape

The beaches along the Cape are perfect for sunbathing, beachcombing and birdwatching. During the shorebird migration, between mid-July and mid-September, areas of the beach are flooded with virtually the entire world's population of Semipalmated Plovers. This magnificent natural spectacle draws naturalists from around the world.
